Use this housing search checklist to help evaluate the properties you visit. It'll give you the chance to review your options later when you have more time to compare the pros and cons of each apartment. Also, remember to take photos of each property you visit for future reference - it's easy to get things confused after viewing multiple apartment communities.

Sample Student Budget

Before starting your off-campus housing search, take some time to figure out your budget and see what you can afford for housing and other expenses. Start off by filling out a budget worksheet like the one below.

Remember to identify the fixed costs (the non-negotiable essentials) and the discretionary costs (where you can adjust your spending). This way, you'll be better prepared to find the right place that suits your needs and wallet.
